Welcome

Welcome, and thank you for visiting The Red Chef, a place to learn the fundamentals of food, health, sustainability, and how to survive complete societal collapse while living in a three-story walk-up.

The Red Chef started out as a Facebook page in March 2020, as a way to keep my friends entertained during what was supposed to be a two-week shut down. [But the more in-depth I got on the topic of basic food prep and sustainability], [and when I saw the kinds of questions people were asking], I began to realize how much [basic food, knowledge] a lot of people were lacking, everything from [reducting waste, health, how to store food, skills that are useful in every day life]. You know, the kind of skills [we associate with homesteaders but are really useful to everyone]

I realized that there were lots of entertaining [options for people to learn about cooking], but most of the [resources that cater to the kind of learning i’m talking about] are pitched more for [homesteaders and commune living] than your everyday apartment dweller [which is stupid because these skills are important for everyone]. [I decided to collect all my notes to create a one-stop shop where people can learn {cooking terms, food safety, etc}]

[You won’t find many recipes here, but you will find guidelines and instructions. Learning recipes isn’t learning to cook. Recipes are the homework, understanding food and health is the classwork]

The site is very much a work in progress, but I think [its more fun to go live from the beginning, so we can all learn together]

[Thanks again for visiting.] Cheers, good health, and good eating!
