Happy rainy Tuesday, friends and readers! Let’s have a little real talk today (don’t look at me like that, its all good I promise).
First off, I want to say thanks so much to everyone who has been writing to tell me how much you enjoy my posts. This blog (I guess you’d call it? Is there a better name?) is intended to function as a sort of interactive “proof of concept,” where I can test out ideas, explore some new topics, and learn the ins and outs of educating and advertising via online platforms to a small (but growing!) audience of friendly followers. In addition to meaning a lot to me personally, the positive feedback I’ve received lets me know that I may actually be on to something here.
Secondly, you might have noticed I haven’t updated in a couple of weeks. There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes happening right now as I try to take this concept to the next level. Building a website and researching new lesson plans is a lot of fun, but most exciting is that I’ve also taken the steps towards receiving a more formal education on food, health, and nutrition. Blog (seriously is there a better word than this?!) updates may therefore be a little more spread out, but I’ll try to still have something up every couple of weeks.
Things have a funny way of falling apart when you give up too many details, so I’m going to play this one close to the vest. Suffice to say, helping change people’s often-unhealthy relationships with food and nutrition is hugely important to me both personally and professionally, and what I’m looking to build here should hopefully be an integral part of realizing that goal.
Thanks everyone for your support so far, and I can’t wait to see where we’re going next! In the meantime, if you’re someone who is interested in learning more about how to eat better, I HIGHLY recommend The Stanford Introduction to Food and Health offered through Coursera. It’s absolutely free (though you can purchase a certificate for $39 if you so choose), with just a few short, informative, and easily digestible (heh) videos that you can complete at your own pace.
If you decide to sign up, I’d love to hear about your experiences with it, and I’m happy to answer any questions about the class specifically, or food and health in general.
Cheers and good eating, all!
